Our support extends beyond the water. In collaboration with the 1851 Trust, Athena Pathway’s partner charity, we are helping to demonstrate the collaboration between sport and STEM, using the cutting-edge technology of high-performance sailing to inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists.
We have delivered interactive, curriculum-aligned workshops that bring science and engineering to life for students aged 11–14. These sessions, hosted in cities across the UK, use the excitement of America’s Cup sailing to teach real-world applications of physics, coding, and environmental science.
This programme is an important first step towards overcoming structural issues that are holding back our STEM workforce. Engineering UK estimate that school students who attend one or more STEM careers activity are over three times more likely to consider a career in engineering.
Our impact was clear: 98% of students reported increased interest in STEM careers after attending. By reaching students at a pivotal age, we’re helping to drive interest in STEM and secure the UK’s future.
